Day 1HalifaxHalifax, Nova Scotia - Western Shore - Tour Begins: Welcome to Canada's Maritimes region - an area of rugged and pristine beauty. Waterfront accommodations await in charming Western Shore. Upon arrival you may wish to stroll along the beach with views of Oak Island, home of a pirate's treasure still waiting to be found.
Day 2Western ShoreWestern Shore - Lunenberg - Western Shore: This morning meet your fellow guests over breakfast with your Tour Manager. Then, experience the small fishing village of Mahone Bay before stopping at Amos Pewter to learn about the intricate artistry that goes into each piece. Next, travel along the beautiful Lighthouse Route towards Lunenburg. Explore this fishing village on a walking tour and discover how early settlers turned to the sea for survival. Then it's on to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. Learn how to prepare and launch a schooner before boarding a fishing boat for an up-close experience. Aboard, a fisherman will teach you all about scallops and how to shuck them! This evening, enjoy dinner along the waterfront.
Day 3Western ShoreWestern Shore - Saint John, New Brunswick: This morning, board a ferry bound for Saint John. Later, get a taste of local life at the celebrated Saint John City Market* as it comes alive with the aroma of fresh food. You may shop for Maritimes crafts and witness local artists at work. The remainder of your day is at leisure to explore your seaside environs.
Day 4Saint JohnSaint John: Explore the awe-inspiring Fundy Trail, marveling at the spectacular views of the famous tides. Make stops along the way that not only reveal breathtaking views but also the chance to savor authentic Maritimes dulse (seaweed), fiddleheads, and traditional fiddle music. Gaze out your window at St. Martin's famous covered bridges on your way to Saint John. The evening is at leisure in the city of Saint John.
Day 5Saint JohnSaint John - Prince Edward Island: Today, travel along the sea-sprayed shoreline on your way to savor a traditional Maritimes lobster feast where an expert teaches you how to crack and eat lobster like a local. This afternoon, visit the amazing Hopewell Rocks. A New Brunswick icon, these flowerpot-shaped rocks carved by the Fundy tides seem to rise four stories high at low tide only to disappear into tiny island when the tide is high.** Leave New Brunswick behind as you cross the stately Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island, the 'Land Cradled on the Waves,' where you'll enjoy a 2-night stay in the bustling waterfront area.
Day 6Prince Edward IslandPrince Edward Island: Come to know the rolling landscapes of Prince Edward Island, the backdrop of the acclaimed novel, Anne of Green Gables. Arrive in delightful Cavendish and view Prince Edward Island National Park's picturesque beaches. Visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum where you will meet a farmer who teaches you the art of potato farming, the island's leading industry. Then, the choice is yours! Will you choose to learn about and indulge in award-winning cheeses or is some handmade ice cream made the old fashion way on the menu? Next we return to Charlottetown with time to explore this fascinating city. Discover seaside Charlottetown with a tour along its narrow streets lined with quaint homes and hidden treasures. Enjoy dinner along the waterfront in Charlottetown.
Day 7Prince Edward IslandPrince Edward Island - Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia - Baddeck: Today, board a ferry bound for Cairbou, Nova Scotia. Arriving at Cape Breton Island, continue your journey along the Canso Causeway. Set out on a scenic drive by the pristine shores of Bras d'Or Lakes, Canada's only inland sea. After dinner this evening we've arranged an old-fashioned bonfire (weather permitting).
Day 8BaddeckCabot Trail: Set off to explore the Cabot Trail and fall in love with its rugged terrain and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the famed St. Peter's Church in Cheticamp. Enjoy a picnic lunch in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Even more beauty awaits as we pause at fishing communities along the coast, including lovely Neil's Harbour. Next, stop at the Gaelic College. Watch North America's first Gaelic language short film: Faire Chaluim MhicLeoid - the Wake of Calum MacLeod. Afterward, learn how the Great Kilt was made during a brief kilt-making demonstration. Learn a few handy Gaelic phrases and join in the fun of a 'milling frolic'√Ę?¬¶practice a Gaelic song while sitting around a table and beating a large loop of woolen cloth in rhythm.
Day 9BaddeckBaddeck - Halifax: This morning explore the amazing variety of inventions on display at the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. En route to Halifax, pay a visit to the Millbrook Cultural & Heritage Centre to learn about the Mi'kmaq heritage and Glooscap legends-see artifacts including intricate quill and bead work, and learn some words from the Mi'kmaq language. Return to Halifax with your evening at leisure.
Day 10HalifaxHalifax - Peggy's Cove - Halifax: Today, visit one of the most picturesque spots in all of Canada - beautiful Peggy's Cove. Its historic lighthouse overlooking the Atlantic Ocean provides one of the most memorable views you will ever see. Later, explore Halifax's charming downtown on a tour highlighting the waterfront, Public Gardens, Spring Garden Road and the famous Citadel. Complete your day along the waterfront at a spectacular farewell dinner with your fellow travelers and toast the end of a marvelous trip.
Day 11HalifaxHalifax - Tour Ends: Today you depart the Maritimes, taking home countless memories.
