Lush Central American vistas
Transit the legendary Panama Canal on a cruise that spans the historic riches and stunning natural beauty of Cuba and Central America. On this nine-nation journey, uncover Mayan ruins, colonial treasures and some of the most biodiverse places on Earth.
All This Is Included
Day 1 - Miami, Florida, USA
Arrive in Miami today, Florida's sun-kissed city of glimmering high-rises and vibrant culture on scenic Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Settle in to your veranda stateroom and take time to explore your ship amid Miami's coastal beauty.
Day 2 - Havana, Cuba
Explore the fascinating streets of Havana today. Long isolated from visitors, Cuba's culture is among the most unspoiled in the world. With an overnight onboard stay in its capital, you will have ample time to explore Casco Viejo, or Old Town. More than 3,000 buildings populate this UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the Havana Cathedral and other magnificent neoclassical, baroque and Spanish colonial architecture. Take in the majestic beauty of Revolution Square, the Avenida de los Presidentes and the Malecon waterfront.
Day 3 - Havana, Cuba
You have another day to discover the rich culture of Havana. Perhaps you'll explore the Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro, also known as Morro Castle, a sprawling fortress that guards the entrance to Havana Bay. See the 18th-century Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabana, today a historical park. Or browse collections stretching back to colonial days at the National Art Museum.
Day 4 - Cozumel, Mexico
Discover the Mayan and colonial past of the island of Cozumel, located off Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Explore the colorful streets of San Miguel or visit Mayan and Toltec ruins at San Gervasio to gain insight into the island's ancient beliefs and customs. View the scenic lighthouse at Punta Sur and the many pristine beaches for which the island is world renowned.
Day 5 - Belize City, Belize
Call on Belize today, inhabited by Mayans for more than 5,000 years. Journey to the mysterious ancient site of Altun Ha, one of Central America's most accessible temples. Enjoy a cruise along the tropical Belize River. Or embark a small boat along the Belize River, a tranquil and pristine ribbon of beauty lined with lush jungle, vividly hued birds taking wing and monkeys hollering from the treetops.
Day 6 - Roatan, Honduras
Bask in the Caribbean beauty of Roatan, one of the spectacular Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras. A snorkeler's paradise, the coral reefs that skirt these islands boast the highest diversity of corals in the Caribbean. Visit the island's butterfly and botanical gardens to view an astonishing array of tropical plants and colorful birdlife, and marvel at countless winged critters flitting from flower to flower.
Day 7 - Cruise the Caribbean Sea
Cruise the azure waters of the Caribbean today. Columbus sailed among the West Indies on these waters before making landfall on South and Central America. And the ships of European nations raised their sails here in search of land for their Crowns and gold for their coffers. You will have ample time to bask in the legendary Caribbean sun at the Infinity Pool and enjoy your meals al fresco, perhaps sampling a local rum cocktail.
Day 8 - Puerto Limon, Costa Rica
Explore the magnificent natural wonders of Costa Rica as you call on its Caribbean port of Puerto Limon. Celebrated as one of the world's most picturesque countries, Costa Rica is home to an astonishing diversity of landscapes and climate zones. About 5% of the world's species of flora and fauna thrive in this tiny country, lush with rainforests. Keep your eyes open for some of them when you cruise the canals of Tortuguero, an aquatic highway linking villages and traversing palm forests and swamps dense with wildlife.
Day 9 - Colon, Panama
More than a gateway to the Caribbean side of the Panama Canal, Colon also introduces you to the unique native traditions of an ancient people. Witness centuries-old tribal life firsthand during a visit to Chagres National Park and an Embera village, where people live in thatched-roof huts, travel by dugout canoe and keep the craft of basket weaving alive. Witness all of these enduring traditions, and many others, firsthand.
Day 10 - Scenic Cruising: Panama Canal
Enjoy a fascinating crossing of the Path Between the Seas today as you traverse the famed Panama Canal. When it opened in 1914, it was hailed as one of the world's great engineering feats. Forty-eight miles long, it links the Atlantic and Pacific at the narrowest stretch of the Isthmus of Panama, cutting thousands of miles off shipping routes that once stretched all the way around Cape Horn at the tip of South America. Crossing this manmade wonder, your ship will be raised and lowered through enormous locks at each end and you'll enjoy a scenic cruise on the 21-mile-long Gatun Lake.
Day 11 - Cruise the Pacific Ocean
Cruise north up the coast of Central America today. As you do, consider that these waters were first spotted by Europeans in the 16th century, when the Spaniard Vasco Nunez de Balboa traversed the Isthmus of Panama from the Caribbean, stumbled upon a vast sea and called it Mar del Sur, or "southern sea," for its location south of the isthmus.
Day 12 - Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Sail into the scenic Gulf of Nicoya this morning, dotted with stunning pristine islands and surrounded by Costa Rica's tropical splendor, magnificent beaches and rich wildlife. Here, you will call on the sleepy fishing village of Puntarenas and venture to a nearby rainforest, where you'll follow trails under the dense canopy. Keep your ears and eyes open for howler monkeys and colorful scarlet macaws in the trees as you explore this lush wilderness.
Day 13 - Corinto, Nicaragua
Visit Nicaragua today, a visually arresting country of tropical jungle and dramatic mountain peaks. Nearly 20 percent of this nature-loving nation is protected as parks and reserves and its farming culture has thrived for centuries. Absorb its magnificent beauty and gain insight into its unique agriculture when you travel to a coffee plantation, or finca, to see how the beloved bean is grown, harvested and roasted.
Day 14 - Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala
Cruise into Puerto Quetzal this morning, a pair of towering volcanoes overseeing your arrival in the distance. You will journey into the central highlands to the stunningly preserved city of Antigua, the capital of Spain's Central American colonies for more than 200 years and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its stunning streets lined with Spanish Renaissance and baroque churches, monasteries and homes.
Day 15 - Cruise the Pacific Ocean
Trace the coast of Central America along the Pacific Ocean, which encompasses one-third of the earth's surface. Before the United States established its transcontinental railroad, many prospectors seeking gold once sailed these waters en route to California. Rather than risk the perils of traveling across America's great divide, they sailed down to the Isthmus of Panama, trekked across its narrow band and continued on the route you follow today.
Day 16 - Cruise the Pacific Ocean
Continue along the coast of Mexico, known for 300 years as "New Spain," which variously included parts of the United States and the Philippines. Merchant ships representing the Spanish Crown once plied these waters, heading north to California or west across the Pacific.
Day 17 - Cruise the Pacific Ocean
Spend New Year's Eve sailing up the coast of Mexico. Perhaps you'll relax on the Sun Deck and ponder your resolutions for the upcoming year. This evening, join us for a special onboard celebration to ring in the New Year.
Day 18 - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Celebrate the New Year as you anchor near the tip of the Baja Peninsula today for your visit to Cabo San Lucas, "Cabo" to its more frequent visitors. One of Mexico's top destinations for its long beaches, resorts, scuba diving and picturesque rocky coast, it boasts one of the region's most scenic harbors. Get acquainted with a panoramic tour of the resort city, San Jose del Cabo, sister to Cabo San Lucas and the oldest Spanish mission on the Baja Peninsula.
Day 19 - Cruise the Pacific Ocean
Sail around the Baja Peninsula. Early explorers ventured into these once-unknown waters for many years in search of California, then a mythical El Dorado that seemed just out of reach. One Spanish author called it "very close to the side of the Terrestrial Paradise." One 1532 expedition of three ships never returned from its voyage, adding to the mystery of the undiscovered land. Today, the Baja Peninsula is among the world's most picturesque coasts.
Day 20 - Cruise the Pacific Ocean
As you approach California today, perhaps you'll visit the onboard cinema to view a movie produced in a Los Angeles studio. California was once represented on maps of the world as an island. It was a Carmelite friar who made the error during a 1602 voyage along this very coast. Though no one ever sailed completely around his "island of California," his map wasn't changed for generations.
Day 21 - Los Angeles, United States
Pull back the veil to discover the secrets of the entertainment industry when you call on Los Angeles, entertainment capital of the United States. Your overnight stay in the "City of Angels" features an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of Hollywood, where movies, stars and dreams are made. You might also immerse yourself in the culinary treasures of the bustling Farmers' Market in the Fairfax District, the city's open air dining emporium, or marvel at the vast art collection at the Getty Center.
Day 22 - Los Angeles, United States
Disembark today and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
