|Day 1||Nairobi||Welcome to Africa! Hotel rooms are available for mid-afternoon check-in.|
|Day 2||Nairobi||Start your sightseeing with a visit to the SHELDRICK ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE, founded and managed by Daphne Sheldrick. Here, you will learn about elephant conservation and meet elephant calves, orphaned by poachers, before they are re-introduced to the wild. Next, visit the KAREN BLIXEN MUSEUM, dedicated to the author of Out of Africa. Lastly, stop at the GIRAFFE CENTER, a non-profit organization focused on saving the Rothschild's giraffe, where you will learn about this sub-species and have the opportunity to feed them. (B,L)|
|Day 3||Samburu National Reserve Area||This morning, meet your Driver/Guide and drive to central Kenya, where you will stop at the famed Mount Kenya Safari Club for lunch amid stunning views of Mount Kenya. Continue on to SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE, home to a diverse population of animals. Enjoy a GAME DRIVE this afternoon, where you have the chance to see animals unique to this part of Kenya. These animals are referred to as the Samburu 'Special 5' and consist of the Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, beisa oryx, and the gerenuk, a long-necked antelope that feeds while standing on its hind feet. (B,L,D)|
|Day 4||Samburu Area||Today, enjoy MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. In addition to the Samburu 'Special 5,' this area is home to an abundance of other species. Large numbers of elephant and Nile crocodile can be seen, as well as waterbuck, Kirk's dik-dik, and Grant's gazelle. Where there is prey, predators can be found, so lion and leopard are often spotted. The area is also great for bird watching, with more than 300 species. During the heat of the day, take advantage of leisure time to relax. (B,L,D)|
|Day 5||Lake Nakuru National Park Area||Today, drive to the Lake Nakuru area. The journey will take you through the beautiful Kenyan highlands, one of the most fertile agricultural areas in all of Africa, where farmers grow crops such as corn, wheat, coffee, and tea. Stop for lunch at Aberdare Country Club en route. (B,L,D)|
|Day 6||Lake Nakuru Area||Today, explore LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK during MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. The park is home to a variety of animals, including giraffe, impala, Cape buffalo, and striped hyena. This is also your best chance to see white rhino, which are commonly spotted here. Relax at your lodge or camp between game drives. (B,L,D)NOTE: If staying at Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp, you may opt for an afternoon game drive closer to camp in Soysambu Conservancy.|
|Day 7||Maasai Mara National Reserve Area||Drive to MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, Kenya's most famous game area. Stop for lunch en route before embarking on an AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE. The 'Mara,' as it is called by the locals, is part of the Serengeti ecosystem and boasts a strong permanent population of game. When the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra arrives, generally between August and early November, the population enlarges by almost 2 million. This provides a great food source for predators such as lion, cheetah, leopard, and hyena. (B,L,D)NOTE: The Great Migration is a natural event, and the arrival/departure of the migrating herds varies slightly year to year.|
|Day 8||Maasai Mara Area||Further explore this magical place during MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. Watch for elephant, rhino, topi, cheetah, and more. Between game drives, take advantage of leisure time to relax. (B,L,D)|
|Day 9||Amboseli National Park Area||After breakfast, board a plane for the quick flight to Nairobi. After a short break, drive to AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK, best known for spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa at some 19,341 feet. Embark on an AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE before settling in at your lodge or camp. (B,L,D)|
|Day 10||Amboseli Area||Today features MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. Amboseli offers you a great opportunity to get close to the mighty elephant. You might also spot Cape buffalo, zebra, wild dog, and more. Relax between game drives. (B,L,D)|
|Day 11||Lake Manyara National Park Area||This morning, cross the border into Tanzania. After lunch in Arusha, proceed to your lodge along the rim of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Check in and enjoy some leisure time prior to dinner. (B,L,D)|
|Day 12||Ngorongoro Conservation Area||After breakfast, embark on a MORNING GAME DRIVE in LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK. This small park is ecologically diverse, with groundwater forests, grassy plains, and alkaline Lake Manyara itself. Watch for elephant, Cape buffalo, giraffe, and more. The park is also home to the world's largest concentration of baboon. Then, drive to beautiful Gibb's Farm for a relaxing lunch featuring sumptuous farm-to-table cuisine. Afterward, continue to the NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA for the night. (B,L,D)|
|Day 13||Ngorongoro Area||Today, enjoy a FULL-DAY GAME DRIVE in Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is technically a caldera-the world's largest unflooded, in fact, at more than 2,000 feet deep with a floor covering over 102 square miles. Game viewing here is fantastic, as most of the animals stay in this area year round. You can see lion, Cape buffalo, hippo, elephant, and flamingo. This is also your best chance to see the rare black rhinoceros. A picnic lunch will be served in the crater. (B,L,D)|
|Day 14||Serengeti National Park||Today, drive to SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, Tanzania's largest and most famous park. Home to the annual Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra, generally between late November and July, it attracts visitors from around the world and is great for game viewing year round. Enjoy lunch prior to your AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE. (B,L,D)NOTE: The Great Migration is a natural event, and the arrival/departure of the migrating herds varies slightly year to year.|
|Day 15||Serengeti||The Serengeti covers an area of roughly 5,700 square miles, so it is no surprise that the name comes from the Maasai word siringit, meaning 'endless plains.' Continue exploring this vast park during MORNING & AFTERNOON GAME DRIVES. Search for the 'Big 5'-lion, leopard, Cape buffalo, elephant, and rhino-as well as an abundance of other animals, including cheetah, giraffe, gazelle, and eland. (B,L,D)|
|Day 16||Stone Town||This morning, fly back to Arusha and connect to your flight to Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B,D)|
|Day 17||Stone Town||Today, explore the highlights of Stone Town on a PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR. Start with a WALKING TOUR featuring the Old Fort, National Palace, slave caves, and the spice markets. Afterward, visit JOZANI FOREST, where you will take a walk through the forest with a local Ranger. Learn more about the forest fauna, walk through the mangrove swamps, and see the rare red colobus monkey, found only in Zanzibar. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. (B,L)|
|Day 18||Homebound Flight||This morning, fly to Dar es Salaam, where your vacation ends. We have secured a day room at the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel for you to use prior to your homebound flight. Book homebound flights after 4 pm. (B)|
