2017 marks the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation and on this very special journey through key Reformation cities, follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther and see where it all began. There's no better way to build fellowship and community than with a welcome dinner in Berlin to meet your fellow traveling companions. Begin your tour with sightseeing in Berlin followed by a stop in Juterbog to see St. Nicholas Church. In Dessau, visit Prince George III Library famed for its collection of works by Luther. An excursion into Wittenberg takes you to see Luther House, and includes a visit to St. Mary's Church and Melanchthon House. (The June 8th departure allows for free time in Wittenberg during Luther's Wedding Festival which will be celebrated June 9th - 11th. The October 29th departure allows for free time in Wittenberg on Reformation Day which is October 31). Before arriving in Leipzig, stop in Torgau, the political center of the Reformation and where Martin Luther sanctified the first Protestant church. In Mansfeld, Luther's childhood town, see his parents' home. Continue to Eisleben and visit Luther's Birthplace Museum, Luther's Death House Museum, St. Andrew's Church, and St. Peter & Paul Church and in Erfurt visit the Augustinian Monastery where Luther lived as a monk. An excursion to Eisenach includes a guided visit to Wartburg Castle, where Luther translated the New Testament, Luther House, St. George's Church, and see Nikolai Gate. Stop in Schmalkalden to see St. George's Church and learn about the 'Schmalkaldic League'. Continue on to Coburg to see the Coburg Fortress. Stop in Worms, where the Imperial Council passed judgement on Luther in 1521 and visit the cathedral where Luther presented his case, Trinity Church, and the famed Reformation Monument. Enjoy a Rhine River cruise through the prettiest part of the Rhine Valley and in Mainz, visit the Gutenberg Museum. Next is the medieval walled town of Rothenburg, famous for its Christmas ornaments, to visit St. Jacob's Church with the renowned Blood Altar. Follow in Luther's footsteps to Nuremberg and visit St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, and to Augsburg, where Luther and his followers proclaimed their beliefs. End in Munich and visit Marienplatz with its Old and New Town Halls. An optional excursion to King Ludwig's Linderhof Castle and the Passion Play town of Oberammergau is available. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at your hotel.

Day 2DessauSightseeing with a Local Guide in the once-divided metropolis includes the elegant Ku'damm, the restored Reichstag, Charlottenburg Castle, a picture stop at monumental Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, and the 21-foot Victory Column in the vast Tiergarten park. Visit the KAISER WILHELM MEMORIAL CHURCH with its bomb-damaged tower, drive along Unter den Linden boulevard, and pass the State Opera House and Checkpoint Charlie. In the afternoon, on the way to Dessau, stop in Juterbog to see St. Nicholas Church and hear about the Pulpit dispute. (B,D)
Day 3DessauIn Dessau visit PRINCE GEORGE III LIBRARY with its collection of works by Luther. Your guided walking tour in Wittenberg takes in Luther House, where Martin Luther and his family lived, followed by a visit to the twin-towered, gothic ST. MARY'S CHURCH, where Luther preached the Reformation, got married (1525), and baptized his six children. Finally, see the door of the Castle Church where Luther posted his 95 Theses against the sale of indulgences-and launched the Reformation in 1517. A special visit has been included to the renaissance-style MELANCHTHON HOUSE, built in 1536 and today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It belonged to Philipp Melanchthon, Luther's closest friend and most successful co-worker. (B,D)
Day 4LeipzigVisit Torgau, the political center of the Reformation, where in 1544 Martin Luther sanctified the first Protestant church. Arrive in Leipzig for your walking tour and visit the THOMASKIRCHE, where J.S. Bach worked. It is the home of the St. Thomas Boys Choir and a place of musical creativity. Also visit the market square that today is a site for celebrations and festivals, but once was the scene of executions and political demonstrations. (B,D)
Day 5ErfurtToday stop in Mansfeld, city of Martin Luther's childhood and see his parents' home. Next in Eisleben visit LUTHER'S BIRTHPLACE MUSEUM, LUTHER'S DEATH HOUSE MUSEUM, ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH, and ST. PETER & PAUL CHURCH. Later, drive to Erfurt, where the fine gothic and renaissance buildings evoke memories of the days of Dominican Master Eckhart and Martin Luther, who spent his student days here before embarking on his journey to Wittenberg. Highlight of the day is a visit to the AUGUSTINIAN MONASTERY, where Luther lived as a monk, and the MERCHANTS' BRIDGE. (B)
Day 6ErfurtJourney to Eisenach and enjoy a guided visit to WARTBURG CASTLE, where Luther translated the New Testament. Also visit LUTHER HOUSE, ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH, and see the Luther and Bach Memorials, Nikolai Church and Gate, through which Luther passed whenever he entered or left Eisenach. Continue to medieval Schmalkalden, famous for the 'Schmalkaldic League' and see St. George's Church. Return to Erfurt. (B,D)
Day 7MainzIn Coburg, where Luther stayed in 1530 for the Imperial Diet of Augsburg, visit fascinating COBURG FORTRESS, one of the largest surviving medieval fortresses in Germany. (B,D)
Day 8MainzIn Worms, where the Imperial Council passed judgment on Luther in 1521, visit the CATHEDRAL where Luther presented his case, as well as TRINITY CHURCH and the famed REFORMATION MONUMENT. Later, enjoy a scenic RHINE CRUISE past castle-crested cliffs, terraced vineyards, and trim, half-timbered towns. Evening at leisure. (B)
Day 9NurembergThis morning, visit the GUTENBERG MUSEUM in Mainz, where original copies of the Bible can be seen. Next is the medieval walled town of Rothenburg. During your walking tour, visit ST. JACOB'S CHURCH with the renowned Blood Altar. Afterwards, there is time to shop for Christmas ornaments, for which this picturesque town is world famous. Continue to Nuremberg, the first town to accept the Reformation in 1525. (B,D)
Day 10MunichYour walking tour in Nuremberg features the famous ST. LORENZ LUTHERAN CHURCH. Continue to Augsburg, where your guided sightseeing reveals the city where Luther and his followers proclaimed their beliefs. Arrive in Munich. (B)

    Booking your Vacation with Air
    For air departure dates within 331 days, you'll be offered a choice of carriers and flight schedules as well as price points to choose from when selecting your flights. Your schedule will be provided to you at the time of booking (schedules are subject to change by carriers). Globus offers 2 air options: Flex Air and Instant Purchase Air. Flex Air allows flexibility if you want to make changes to your vacation schedule. Instant Purchase Air may offer additional airline options but has more restrictions. Some vacations may only offer one Air type option. Guaranteed air-inclusive prices: air is only available to passengers traveling from the United States and only available when booked in conjunction with a land vacation. An additional $300 per person non-refundable air deposit is required for Flex Air booked in conjunction with any land vacation (i.e. air-inclusive vacation). Air can only be booked by Globus in conjunction with a vacation package. Instant Purchase Air requires air payment in full at time of booking (i.e. air-inclusive vacation) plus non-refundable service fee ($30 per person for North America, $80 per person for South Pacific, $50 per person for all other destinations). Once booked, Instant Purchase Air is non-refundable, and non-changeable. Some vacations may only offer one Air type option.
